Udenna Foundation supports surgical mission in Marawi

Udenna Foundation, Inc. has committed to providing more support to the recovery of Marawi City.

Udenna Foundation, one of the charitable foundations within the Udenna Group, recently partnered with the DU30 Cabinet Spouses Association and World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP) for a three-day surgical mission at Amai Pakpak Medical Center.

With the city still in need of help a year after the attacks of Maute group militants, the Udenna Foundation, the spouses of Cabinet members and the WSFP aimed to answer the need for surgical operations, supplies and equipment in affected areas.

From July 15 to 17, the doctors and nurses of WSFP performed a total of 120 minor and more in-patients and outpatients of AMPC for cases such as hernia/hydrocoele, cleft lip and palate, imperforate anus, hirschsprung’s disease, ovarian tumor, closure of colostomy, cysts, and lipoma.

“Marawi is in need of help on every front and we are thankful to have been given the chance to contribute in the best way we can,” said Dr. Lester Suntay, President of WSFP.

“Despite the challenge, we encourage others to reach out and offer what they can to ease the pain and burden the city had to endure. They deserve better after everything that has happened to them.”

Aside from helping fund the three-day surgical mission, Udenna Foundation through the LIFE Fund put together by Phoenix Petroleum and Worklink Services, Inc. provided logistical support to WSFP by transporting the medical supplies and equipment from the previous leg of the surgical mission in Bukidnon to Marawi City and to the next leg in Aklan.

“We hope more companies and institutions will support Marawi in any capacity that they can,” said Cherylyn C. Uy, President of Udenna Foundation, Inc. “There is still so much that needs to be done and we remain committed to contributing whatever we can give for the recovery of the city.”

Established in 2007, Udenna Foundation, Inc. (UFI) is one of the four foundations under the Udenna Group. A non-stock, non-profit organization, UFI was founded to contribute to the empowerment of the underprivileged through educational, sports, and recreational programs. Since its founding, UFI has continuously carried out various activities in the form of direct financial support and distribution of goods through outstanding charitable institutions, majority of which are based in Davao.

Udenna Group has business interests in petroleum and oil through Phoenix Petroleum; shipping and logistics through Chelsea Logistics; real estate through Udenna Development; education through Enderun Colleges; and infrastructure through Udenna Infrastructure, among others. It successfully listed both Phoenix Petroleum (PSE: PNX) and Chelsea Logistics (PSE:CLC) on the Philippine Stock Exchange in 2007 and 2017, respectively.
